Thanks for all the posts on replacing the accumulator. Just now looking at them. The replacement looks straight forward but just to make sure do you have to bleed the brake system? Is the accumulator ready to go once installed or do you have to prime with brake fluid before using the brakes?

Thanks in advance for any info.

You have to relieve pressure from the system before unscrewing the old accumulator. You do this by having ignition OFF and pressing brake pedal many times until it gets hard to press. That means all the "boost" effect is gone. Once that's done, brake fluid will not squirt from the system when you unscrew accumulator. After you install new accumulator and turn on ignition, the system will prime itself. You do not need to bleed brake system after this procedure.

Thanks to all for the info on the accumulator. It took me less than five minutes to complete the entire job and this time includes getting the tools and rags. How can dealers charge $400 - $500 dollars for this job and sleep at night? I got the part from the dealer for $160 here in San Antonio. Could have saved about $10 - $20 online but i needed the part the same day.
