Brake pedal noise...
Hello all, so after acquiring my 03 Montero limited, I have fixed some minor issues and after sorting (mostly) everything out, my focus is now on the darn brake pedal squawking noise that happens when I push the brake pedal at lower speeds(most of the time, not every time). I have no issues in braking or the pedal feel and no errors on dash, after researching a bit, I found that this noise is the brake accumulator... so honestly speaking, will this problem just stay at the noise or (god forbid) it will get worse and cause a bigger problem if I don't address this? I don't drive much and don't have too much money and time to put into the truck...
Does anyone else have this issue and just left it alone and it hasn't gotten any worse? Again, I have no issues with braking or error lights other than the noise from the lower driver dash... Please advice. Thanks

It does sound like the brake accumulator thing. If that is trully the case, it will get worse to the point where one day it will scare the living lights out of you. It is truly a simple repair - get the new part, relieve brake fluid pressure (ignition off, press brake pedal 10-20 times untill it stars to feel "soft"), place some old rags under and around brake fluid reservoir, unscrew old brake accumulator, screw in new one. Done.
Thanks for your reply, mine is not the older bubble type one which are easy to find online, it's the cylindrical shape one which looks like it's made of stainless steel. I will be on a lookout for a used working unit... and swap it out, but on this one thread I saw where this was the thing on 01-02 models, and the guy worked at Mitsu dealership and he just said when they failed, they just made these noises and didn't impose any safety hazards so if anything, I will just buy a used one when the noise starts to annoy me more. I do mostly highway driving so less braking and no noise, it's only noticeable in city stop and go.
Noted, as I don't have my cars too long, I am hesitant to spend serious money on the truck, obviously life is very important and I don't expect the brakes to fail on me in the near future, but I will be on a lookout for good deals on the new part.
