Default Camshaft code 304 malfunction

Hello,

I need some help. I have a 1997 Montero. The engine won't start and the ecm shows a 304 camshaft position sensor malfunction, bank one. I replaced the camshaft sensor and then found that the power supply from the ecm to camshaft sensor was bad, so I replaced it. The harnesses all check out: power from ecm, ground, and connection to MFI are all good.

does anyone know what the Bank One means on my trouble code?

thanks for your help.

Barry

Thanks for the help. I did transpose the numberit is 340, not 304. I've replaced the camshaft sensor and checked the harness and still I get the error code. Could something else be tripping up the camshaft sensor?

Could be a bad pcm if the harness and sensor are ok.
