Wow, that's a major malfunction. The key is half way past the spot where it needs to be. I wonder what made it do that. Any ideas?

If you're going to change timing belt, it's probably a good thing to replace those parts to.

Rust in that severity is not normal. I figure a coolant leak somewhere ate up the metal and weakend it.
