Default 2003 Outlander Electrical Drain

I have a 2003 outlander that has an electrical drain with the key removed. Sporadically the lights will come on and then turn off after a period of time when the light switch is left in the on position, same with the cabin fan. The dealer can not find the fault code but they have seen the problem occur when at the shop. I am told the lights and fan are on separate circuits. They changed fuses and the computer module but the problem has persisted. The next option appears to be rewiring the vechicle. Any suggestions?

These things don't just decide to do strange things just for grins.

You have probably got a bad ground, broken or shorted wsire somewhere.

Your idiot dealer should be able to fix it.

Are you covered by the 10 yr warranty? Make them fix it or get Mother Mitsu involved.

Yes if I leave the headlights in the "auto on/off" position, with the car off, the lights will come on and off by themselves.

2003 was the model year before the 10year warranty.

It must be a short somewhere, have to identify the circuit and trace wires I guess.
