Cold Hard start / engine prechecks
2015 Outlander Sport 2 L
On cold start I have always heard a tic tic tic for maybe 2 seconds when placing the key from Off to On. Sometimes if I didn't allow that precheck to complete I would hear an audible compression into the intake. I assumed this precheck allows the electric valves to set for start, but recently I no longer hear this sound. Sometimes I hear a reverse compression, some times not.
I do not see any PCM lights illuminated.
What is this noise and why might it have stopped?
