Default Navigation unit is sloooow

My Outlander's navigation unit works for the most part, but when I try to input a destination it takes 5 minutes to load all the POI's, and when it finally does it usually closes the screen and goes back to the map. It does this more often when I'm typing in the name of my POI. It takes about 4 or so tries to get it to actually work -- that's anywhere from 10-20 minutes of wanting to punch the screen while doing 60mph down the road.

Does this happen with other cars or is it just mine?

Is there a way to make it stop doing this?

ok all navigation data are stored on the HD.. The tme taken to laod info indicates either a problem in the nav data.. (have you upgraded your map data recently?) or a problem in the hitachi drive....Nav data and POI load instantly ...

That's kind of what I thought. I bought a new SD card and updated the gps maps and the POIs. Neither has helped. What is a hitachi drive and how do I fix it? Or is that more of a hardware problem?

Would a problem with the hitachi drive explain why it goes crazy so often and exits to the map screen while I am typing in a POI?

I don't know if the two things are linked or if they are independent problems.

I think that I may have misinformed you... I have the EUROPIAN outlander 2008 with MMCS.... and updates maps via DVD... no SD card So you must have something different from mine's..
