Looking to update the maps on my Navigation system in the 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS is this the best and only option?

Should I wait until the 2016 Version is released? If so when do they release the new versions? Has anyone bought and used this type of navigation updates?

 

Yes - that is the only option. The update you would purchase from the dealer is the same thing and comes from the same source. You could wait until the 2016 version is released, but judging by when the last few updates were released, it will be much later this year. IIRC, the 2015 update didn't come out until October of last year.

 

Back when my 08 Outie was still a young pup and its maps that were version 2006 when the car rolled off the lot, I seriously considered purchasing the update. Thinking that through a bit it seemed outlandishly expensive to drop $200 over and over when for the same money once, I could own a nice Garmin unit that not only updates maps for free forever but also gives traffic alerts. Now I still use the Outie navy in areas I'm confident have been around for 10 years, but toss the Garmin and the dash for other ventures
