I have the V6, only because I had 2 choice when I bought it, I get the V6 or I buy something else.
I probably would have gotten the 4cyl, had I had the choice, the one thing I hate about most car manufacturers is that they will often not offer all the packadges accross all engines. My choice would have been an XLS with a 4cyl, and a diesel would have beennice.
The more you give the more people want, 15 years ago, the question would have been Outlander 2.4 or 2.0 and everybody that say 3.0 today would have been saying 2.4!

 

v6 without a doubt! prob the best mpg you can get on a v6 out there. if you are happy with the power of a 4 cylinder do not try driving a v6 -you don't know what you are missing.

 

The fuel economy difference is really pretty small..negligible on the highway..a bit better for the 2.4 in town.

It's pretty easy for me to beat the EPA numbers by an MPG or 2 @ 65 MPH. I can get 30-31 @ 55 MPH with the 3.0

 

i have a 06 with the MIVEC 2.4 and love it, so if id get a newer version id go with the 2.4 also, im more a fan of 4cyls than v6 and v8....... a turbo would be nice though

 

I would go for the V6

I have the volkswagan engined 2.0L turbo diesel due to mpg and high price of fuel in the UK (41mpg in town) current price £1.32 per litrer
