Recently purchased a 2010 XLS - Creaking coming from the back left
Hi, I'm curious if any of you are experiencing the same problem. I have a new 2010 XLS that I purchased less than two weeks ago. The day after I picked up the Outlander, I noticed a knocking/Creaking from the back left when going from a stand still, turning, going over bumps. I assumed that it was a problem with the suspension. I scheduled a service appointment.
I brought it to the dealer today. They called me to say that the tech noticed the sound right away and that it is a similar problem that some newer Lancer's are having. Apparently a TSB exists for the Lancers. The noise is caused by panels rubbing together and the solution is to have the body shop widen the gaps, which may require welding The dealer is telling me that I have to leave the car with with them for a couple of days, which sounds a little excessive to me, especially on a vehicle with less than 500 km's . I asked for a copy of the Lancer TSB but only the mechanics have access to them and they were gone for the day. They say I can have it faxed to me tomorrow.
Has anyone else heard of this issue? Thanks for looking.

I'm having similar issue with a 2011 Outlander GX-3. sounds like a 200,000 mile minicab rather than 5000 mile on gentle roads. Dealer already had o/s/r drop link replaced as it "was showing excessive movement", which I found disturbing, but the noise has just got worse. Intersting to hear if there are others with similar knocking.
FWIW I have a new (<2000 miles) GX4 and have noise from the back but in my case I am almost certain it's the 3rd row seats rattlin' 'n' rubbin' in their folded position. Haven't had a chance to look at remedying yet. Your GX3 will have the same seats I'm sure.
Same seats, yes. I have noticed when the seats are up you get a god awful rattling until you park somebody on them. I'll give that a try tonight, because it is driving me nuts. Mind you, it does mean I get a valid reason to turn up the tunes :-)
