RE: Sharkfin Antenna
I looked again.. It does route to the roof ant.. Looks as if the diff from non sat to sat is one connector at base of ant. So the non has 2 connectors and with sat has 3.
Sorry for the prev info, I could of swore I saw the ant mounted close to the sat box.
The schematic does say ant amp is used.. and the sat ant heads to same local.
Again Im sorry on this.. I have no idea where I saw that image.. Now its gonna bug the crap outta me..

RE: Sharkfin Antenna
Sorry to "sneak in" on this topic, but I have some questions about the antenna, in general. I just picked up my new 2008 XLS AWD and was really upset to find that my antenna is one of the non-moveable types. So, I can't actually put the car in the garage, unless I unscrew the darned thing. Anyway...some people are saying that the black box, which the antenna is threaded into, is the actual GPS/Sirius antenna and the screw in antenna just works for Am/Fm. This is all so confusing to me. It also doesn't make a ton of sense, but I'm not the car designer. Has ANYONE purchased one of those stubby antennas? Does it fit down into the receptacle, just like the OEM antenna, or does it hang outside? If the sharkfin works for am/fm AND GPS then perhaps that is the way to go. Just some thoughts AND questions.
BTW - this car is the bomb!! 26 MPG on my trek back to Texas, from picking it up in Kansas - I TOTALLY made the right choice.

RE: Sharkfin Antenna
No, mine is complete IMMOVEABLE it just sticks up straight. I went to the Mitsu dealership near my home and all their 2008 XLS models with NAV have the moveable type connections. Mine came from Kansas - I drove there to get it - perhaps it has something to do with where they are sending the automobiles and whether they think the moveable type won't take high winds? Just a guess. I want to trade mine out, but have a feeling I'm gonna get jacked...

RE: Sharkfin Antenna
According to my 2008 manual, all Outlanders equipped with the Sirius option (Sun&Sound, basically) will have a fixed type antenna. Everything else will be the typical moveable type that folds forward. I guess this means I have to buy a newer "stubby" type antenna and just hope that it get good reception. Hope this answers a few questions - it did for me...
