Put in new alternator in a 97 GST. Now battery and brake dummy lights flicker. Also headlights and dash lights dim with higher rpm's. Is it a belt problem or a short problem or what?

Anyways, make sure the belt is tight and check your connections at the alternator & battery. A weak or discharged battery can do that until it starts to recover. Try re-charging the battery. Worst case, your new alternator is bad.

 

One thing also to check... did you plug the alternator in?

Its something that dumb as it may sound, is consistently overlooked.
