RE: head gasket?
well.... i had white smoke coming out of my exhuast 1 night. . .that was the night i blew my heater hose... and on that same night i'm pretty sure thats the night i blew my head gasket, i saw white smoke mabey on 4 or 5 occasions on a startup and never saw it again but still had a blown head gasket . . . so it's a tricky lil fu%*er.... head gasked = about 100 for a cometic which is what i did, me and a friend did it in his garage in a weekend - granted we ran into some problem after the gasket change but got it done in a matter of 2 days. not that hard. really.... but if i were to do it again. . . id prolly drop the whole motor! it'd be a lot easier. well it's 12:25am here and i gotta work at 7:00am so i'm headin to bed, hope this stuff helps you out, if you have any other ?'s i'll be back on tomorrow during the day and a lot of other ppl on here can help youa lot more than i can... i'm on a learning curve lol emonz, sebba, 93eclipsegsx, slow420a and silvercup can help you out a lot also. later bro.

RE: head gasket?
If you really want to know if you have a head gasket issue. Go down to autozone and borrow a compression tester and test all the cylinders. If one of two come out of whack then theres your problem.
