Default Engine only starts with Overdrive "Off" Why???

Hello. Under the "Montero Forum" I posted a detailed description and pictures of the current "No Crank, No Start" issue with my 1994 Montero. I will summarize here so as to perhaps get more views and maybe someone will have an answer to the problem.

The Montero will not crank and start.....there is not even a "clicking/tapping" sound from the Solenoid (which usually happens if the battery is weak or poor connections). There is only a small "click" someplace in the dash, which I now think is only the fuel pump relay or Injector system relay. Yesterday I discovered that by simply pushing the Overdrive button to the "Off" position, that the engine cranks and starts up fine. If I turn the engine off, and push the Overdrive button to "On", then the engine will not crank and will not start. Very bizarre situation.

Here is a picture of the circuit diagram:

You can see that after the Park/Neutral Safety Switch, the circuit goes to 2B-L, which covers the Tranny, MFI system, and SRS airbag system. Does anyone know or can suggest what could be the problem at the Tranny that would cause this "No Crank/No Start" if the Overdrive is on the usual "On" position? Why would it make a difference if the Overdrive is "on" or "off" in order to start the engine?

Other Notes:
1. I recently replaced the head gaskets, and it ran great. Then, it began to develop an issue of not cranking when I turned the key to "start". After a few tries, it typically would crank start up. So, I thought the solenoid was going bad, and went ahead and replaced the starter/solenoid.

2. I then felt that there was a problem with the Park/Neutral Safety switch, and replaced that with an OEM Mitsu. switch. Still had the same "No Crank/No Start" issue.

3. Just to cover all bases, I took out the battery and put in a known good battery, cleaning the terminals again. Once again, "No Crank/No Start". I also ran a test light down to the trigger wire at the Solenoid, and it did light up when I turned the key to "start".

4. Seeing that the circuit diagram shows the circuit going to the Tranny before engaging the Starter, I tried turning off the "Overdrive" switch, located on the gear selector handle. Doing this allowed the engine to crank and start right up. Pushing the Overdrive button "in" turns the Overdrive to "on", and once again causes a "no crank, no start" situation.

Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?
Thanks.

Good morning friend ZZ.......If you go to the long thread called "Help Solve a "No Crank-No Start" Case - 94 Montero with Pictures", you will find the final answer, with loads of pics. In summary, I installed a new Park/Neutral Safety switch which did not help, and had to install a new Relay on the firewall and a Push-Button Switch on the dash below the key switch. Pretty simple install.
