Default Steering column chip

Hi I have a 1995 shogun 2.8 diesel lwb i have just noticed a small electrical connector (component) under the steering wheel attached to the column cover it has 2 black wires going to it the component is about the size of a postage stamp and to be honest looks like a sticker, does anyone know what this could be for. I have tried to find on here and googled it but nothing found. Any info would be useful. Thanks
