2016 Outlander MMCS to SDA Head Unit Swap
I recently completed the swap on a 2017MY outlander, although it had the hands free module the existing MMCS unit had the grey mic plug so I didn’t have to re-wire it.
I did however order the grey mic plug in preparation, if anyone needs one rather than using hot glue this is the correct plug.

The gps antenna (grey plug) can be made to fit without pulling it apart by simply removing the ridge on the top right of the plug.
I also used the following adaptor to plug the existing usb socket into the SDA. The pins needed moving round but that wasn’t hard.

if your ordering the adaptor then a DAB extension can be purchased from the same seller for much less than Amazon.

Hopefully these links help anyone else wanting to move from the MMCS to SDA.

The connector then plugs into the socket in the back of the head unit and you can use the existing usb socket in the armrest.
yup I bought it and got it all figured out. I just think the gps antenna died on me.

i have 2016 Outlander GT with Navigation in North America. for my MMCS to SDA swap, i need
1.GPS antenna (green plug)
2.USB connector to use existing usb port in center console
3. Hyundai USB connector for extra port (this i will probably use for carplay)
4. No need of DAB+ / Fakra cable as its not really applicable to NA
5. Existing Antenna cable will fit as such
6. 2 existing white plugs will fit as such
im just worried about mic and what about the box kind of things everyone spoke about it in earlier post ? should i leave it or remove it ?

I thought I would give this a go on my late 2016 outlander phev. Got a head unit from a 2018 unit. Happily everything was a match except no dab. Gps is wrong plug and mic not working. Does any one know what the correct pinout would be for the mic? Also I could not find the dab antenna lead (fakrak?) is it connected to another module? Dab works on MMCS. There is no fakra plug point on it.
thanks for all your help!
edit: so I solved it. Made microphone work by ordering a set of male and female connectors from aliexpress as linked below and made my own cabel connected the microphone to pin 14, 28 and 27 on the feed to the handsfree and to port 56, 63 and 64. Pin 57 i just mounted to a chassi screw. Turns out the old cabel was just sending signal from the hands free unit and did not do it correctly. I got dab working by connecting the fakra port to the antenna cabel under the glove box (lhd) using an extension. Gps worked, just had to shave of a bit of plastic on the connector. Thanks for the help!

Hi everyone, and thanks for an amazing resource. I just bought a 2013 Outlander (gen 3 in Europe, non-PHEV) and have been going back and forth between getting an android head unit or upgrading from MMCS to an SDA. The use case for me is basically just DAB and Android Auto, and I value reliability highly. It just needs to work.
I've soruced an SDA from a local salvage yard from a 2018 Outlander PHEV with OEM 8740A022. From what I've gathered this is a PHEV specific one with the settings needed for those models. I am curious if anyone knows if this will work on a non-PHEV 2013 model which is still gen 3. I would like to retain everything as is today and from reading a lot of the comments here, that shouldn't be a problem with some fiddling with connectors and adapters. Am I overlooking something?
Thanks in advance.
