To get hings off the HDD (30.94 stylee), will I need this....
http://www.compusa.com/applications/...9952&CatId=448

or this..
http://www.compusa.com/applications/...9310&CatId=470

Your input is appreciated.

Btw, if both will work... which will be the safest/easiest one?
You will need the second one to unlock the disk, using a PC. That's the only tool that can do the job.
Also, after unlocking, you may use the first one, considering that you may want to reattach back the PC's hdd and boot windows. Is much easier to work on USB with the unlocked disk.

(edit: i take that back, it appears it does indeed have a 44-pin connector on it) A USB adapter will NOT work for unlocking the drive. However, once the drive is unlocked, you may use a USB adapter (personally I have this one) to easily copy files off of it.

This adapter is REQUIRED to unlock the drive with the bootable linux CD (xbhdm). Simply disconnect all the drives from your system, except your CD-ROM drive (which should be on the 2nd IDE channel on your motherboard anyway), and connect the MMCS hard drive with this adapter. PAY ATTENTION to the orientation when connecting it to the MMCS' HDD! Reversing it will damage the hard drive and/or your motherboard. Some adapters have a "key" to prevent you connecting it backwards, some do not, so use caution. Also, its VERY easy to bend the pins on the hard drive, so be extremely careful when removing the connector.

Your input is appreciated.

Personally, I have both, so I use both. The 2nd one lets me unlock the drive, then the first one lets me access it on any PC I want very easily via USB until I put the drive back in the MMCS. Its also proved to be a handy tool for many other things (such as cloning a disk in a PC if you have friends/family that need PC support often...)

Costin beat me to the reply His was much shorter and easier to read ... haha

OK I pulled my drive with the 00.30.94 version.

The ALLDATA.KWI and LOADING.KWI are here -> http://www.mpghead.com/00.30.94.zip

Please don't download this if you don't need to since it'll eat up my bandwith

And please post the patch CD for us!

Thanks!

does this hack let you have video from the aux feed up while driving?
if so is there any way to make the aux feed only show video and keep the audio from say sirius playing, possibly with controls over the audio source while doing it?

reason i ask is this for the evo http://www.hksusa.com/info/?id=3474
