Well its defenetly louder than my Lancer, it does sound high pitched but it makes my wife jump every time I honk when shes opening the garage door for me. So its good enough for me I guess [sm=badbadbad.gif]

For a Japanese horn its not bad but if you want to upgrade grab a set of Magnum Blasters or Stebels. I swapped the puny horns on my FJR for the Blasters - its funny seeing driver/pedestrian reactions when Im on my bike.

Rdenis,

Any idea how easy it would be to swap out our horns and replace them with the Magnum Blasters for the Outie?

Hm.... don't like the high pitched ones. I wish I could find the same tone as my previous car (TSX)

Exactly. The volume is fine, but more "HONK!" and less "BEEP!" if you please.

Yea the horn is pretty gay. They should of put an air horn in.
so that explains why I caught my horn plugged into another horn with the same polarity..

The stocker is a disc type of horn..the advantage is that it's small and the sound is 'aimed' straight out (you can see the horns from the outside so perhaps looks are a factor??)..they sound pretty lame and are usually found on motorcycles and japanese cars

I put an air horn on my bike and it sounds awesome..but they're much bigger (even the compact all in one units), so there could be some mounting issues and I don't trust the opening of the horn to be facing forward getting water/bugs/dirt in there

The signal type (kind of asprial look with a soundexit hole)of electric horn (what has been used in most domestics)..that's proably the sound you want..

It should be a straight swap with the Blasters. I haven't looked to see how the stock horns are mounted/wired but I suspect they are flat cylinders with two wires so it should be easy to swap them.

Just break the rules and fit airhorns - I did, and now the horn sounds acceptable!

Cost AUS$30, so a cheap fix.
