Over drive explane
Overdrive is just basically having a 5th gear.. With overdrive off, you dont have that final gear, which they put in for driving highway/interstate.. Its nice to have to save on gas when cruising at higher speeds, so your not running it at 5000 rpms.. In a manual car, OD is just your 5th gear.. In autos its actually called OD..
With od off does the rpm go higher b4 shifting? Because I was trying to keep the car quiet last weekned because it was really late and od was off and it was at like 5000rpm in first gear and was in D.
What do you have? an Automatic or a manual? For a manual you just shift up a gear.. or 2 if you were running it at 5000 rpms.. But an automatic you just put it in drive and go.. the car should shift on its own before 5000 rpms unless your really getting on it, then it may get above that, but will shift very soon... My spyder usually shifts by 3500-4000 rpms depending on how much gas I give it..
I had it indrive and with OD off and was just gaining speed not to fast because I wasstarting toleavea city and it was getting loud so i looked down and it was at 5000rpm then i let off and it finaly shifted on its own. its auto. Is their a way to get it to shift at like 6000rpm in ever gear with it in drive?
yeah, step on it, but youre not getting that much power unless your tranny is race modified... keep overdrive off in the city, turn it on in highways or long no stop roads....
Leave it on all the time, the trans will only shift into that final gear when the conditions are right. Leaving it off will not affect any other aspects of the way the car drives or shifts.
